Attendance
: Students are required to work 135 clock hours  The actual work schedule will be determined by the instructor, employer, and the student.  Employers will keep a time sheet on each student intern.

The student is expected to report for work each day of internship.  If the student must miss work for an unforeseen emergency or illness, the instructor and employer both must be notified before work.  Students who miss more than one day of internship must make up any hours missed.  Excessive absences will affect the final grade in this course.

Procedures
:  Students will:

1) Attend organization meeting
2) Sign Student Intern Agreement
3) Interview with the employer
4) Log 135 clock hours of work experience
5) Attend the mid-semester class meeting
6) Complete and submit a Student Internship Report

Students enrolled in the internship course will attend an organizational classroom meeting in January (TBA).  Internship will be fully explained at this meeting.  In addition, students will be required to sign the Student Intern Agreement.  Students may give input on site selection.  The supervising instructor will evaluate requested sites and will have the final authority on student placement.  The instructor will notify the student of placement.  It is the student’s responsibility to set up and interview with the employer before the first day on the job.

The majority of learning will take place at the job site.  The supervising instructor will stay in close contact with the employer and student by phone and/or e-mail.  In addition, the instructor may visit the intern’s work site during the internship term.  Additional visits may be warranted if problems and issues arise.

All interns will attend a classroom meeting to be announced by the instructor.  Students may work on their Intern Report (see attached) and discuss work related concerns with the instructor at that time.  Students will submit the final Intern Report by November 30, 2007.
