INSTRUCTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Be in class, on time, prepared to teach the lesson.

Be in class, on time, prepared to participate.  Bring needed materials.

Review (not re-teach) pre-requisite skills for the course.

Work outside of class time to ensure that the prerequisite skills are met.

Present the lesson material to the class in a clear and concise manner.

Listen carefully, take notes.

Assign homework problems related to the material covered in class. 

Do ALL homework assignments ON TIME.  Do more than assigned if needed.  Use the Online Program or CD that accompanies your textbook for extra tutorials, exercises, quizzes and practice tests.

Answer questions about class work and homework.

Ask questions about the homework problems that you didn't understand.  You may ask before, during or after class.  (To help you remember what those questions are, write them down as soon as you think of them.)

Be available during office hours and by appointment for meetings with students.

Attend tutoring sessions for extra help on the material you don't understand.  

Encourage students to form and join study groups.

Lead or join study groups.

Make, give, and grade tests that reflect the material covered in class.

Prepare for and take ALL tests on time! Remember there are no makeup exams.  Don't expect to cram and be successful.

Return graded student work in a timely manner.

Examine the kinds of mistakes you made in your work and take steps to correct the process and/or arithmetic errors.

Give students ideas for improving their performance in the class.

Ask the instructor for ideas for improving your performance in the class

Update instructor's website so that students can access needed information.

Check the website regularly, especially if you must miss a class and need to find out what you missed.

Create MyMathLab course for online assignments, tutorials, etc.

Manage your time and prioritize your tasks wisely.

Accept the responsibility for your performance in the course.  You will receive the grade that you earn.
